Adaptive Zero-Voltage Vector Based Initial Position and Speed Estimation at High Speed for Flying Start of PMSM Drives

To enhance the flexibility and adaptability of the zero-voltage vector (ZVV) based initial speed and position estimation at high speed for flying start of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives, an improved adaptive adjustment of the ZVV action time and interval time is proposed in this paper. To improve the estimation accuracy and minimize the ZVV action time, the current vector position estimation error is evaluated through the difference between the linear fitting result and the actual result of the current vector position. Then the ZVV action time is adjusted online according to the estimation error of current vector position. In addition, to avoid the initial speed estimation error of the traditional ZVV method changing with the speed, an adaptive adjustment strategy based on the initial estimated speed is proposed to adjust the ZVV interval time online. Finally, the estimated initial speed and position are applied to the flying start of PMSM sensorless drives. The proposed scheme is verified on a 2.2-kW PMSM platform.
