Research on the Correlation and Intelligent Detection of Mechanical Response of Crash Dummy

In order to study the mechanical response correlation of dummy chest in crash test, this paper analyzes the chest structure and chest stiffness of the most widely used HIII 50 percentile dummy and the most advanced Thor dummy. Also, it analyzes the difference of chest response between the two dummies under different direction of seat belt. The results show that the chest stiffness of HIII 50 percentile dummy is about 190N/mm-200N/mm in 50km/h frontal impact test. The chest stiffness of Thor dummy is as follows: the left upper chest stiffness is basically maintained at about 210N/mm-230N/mm; The chest stiffness of the right upper is basically maintained at about 110N/mm-120N/mm; The chest stiffness of the right lower is relatively stable and maintained at about 130N/mm-140N/mm. Meanwhile, when the dummy is located on the left and right of the front row, the chest stiffness of the HIII 50 percentile dummy has no relation with the direction of the seat belt. But the chest stiffness of Thor dummy is related to the direction of safety belt, and the chest stiffness of different positions is symmetrical.
