Reconfigurable Dual-band Radio Frequency Energy Harvester utilizing 900MHz and 2.4GHz Frequency Band

This study presents a reconfigurable dual band rectifier that can operate at different frequency bands with improved PCE and broad dynamic range performance over a wide range of input power. The proposed design utilizes two sets of modified cross-coupled differential-drive (CCDD) rectifier with added gate-bias enhancement that can be toggled to function either at 900 MHz (UHF) or 2.4 GHz (Wi-Fi) band depending on the available signal strength. It was implemented in 65nm CMOS technology. The design demonstrated a PCE of 49% at −18 dBm for 900 MHz, 32% at −18 dBm for 2.4 GHz and peak PCE of 54% for both frequency band with a 100 KΩ load. Moreover, the design offers a dynamic range as high as 20 dB and a peak sensitivity of −29 dBm.
