Design of a 3.5GHz Dual-polarized Curved Phased Array for 3D Coverage Communication

In this paper, a 3.5GHz dual-polarized curved phased array is presented. This array comprises five 1 x8 units sub-arrays and has 80 channels in total. The calculation method about the feed phase for beam scanning to the units has been given. The array can achieve beam scanning from 30° to 110° in the pitch range, with a maximum transmit beam gain of 46.5dBi and 46.7 dBi. It can be used as one part of ground base station for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) air-to-ground communication to built a 3-dimension (3D) coverage communication network.
