A long-term cruise monitoring system for marine ranching based on surface docking station

In order to solve the problem of energy limitation for continuous monitoring, a long-term cruise monitoring system for marine ranching based on surface docking station is proposed. The system mainly includes the autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) with the designed contactless power and data transfer (CPDT) modules and the docking station. The AUV is responsible for scanning the target area using side scan sonar. When the power is insufficient, it will return to the docking station autonomously for data transmission and power recovery. In order to facilitate deployment, a light-duty docking station constructed of PVC pipes is designed. After the lake test, the feasibility of the long-term cruise monitoring system was confirmed.
