Deepfakes and Information Security Issues

In the era of information technology development, new threats to information security have appeared. One of the new trends in this area is the deepfake. This article examines the essence of the term «deepfake», the history of its origin and the features of the impact on information. Algorithms for its creation and distribution are also considered. An assessment is given to the problem of the threat of the spread of deepfakes in the media, including on the Internet and on television. Possible solutions to the identified problem are considered.
