Simulation and Dynamic Analysis of a Wind Farm in the Occurrence of a Fault in the Grid

The electrical power system is subject to disturbances that affect the balance and dynamics of its operation. Electrical faults are one of the critical causes of these disorders. The study of double-fed induction wind turbines (DFIGs) in short-circuit situation in the system is necessary to understand their behavior at this critical moment and their contribution to the fault current. In this work, 6 DFIGs are simulated with different operating configurations and location in the network in a fault duration of 0.02 s. The simulations showed that the wind turbines vary their behavior according to the operating characteristics, and may interfere with other machines, depending on the arrangement in the system.
