Dynamic Simulation and Analysis of a Wind Farm Connected to a Transmission Substation

The power injection of double fed induction generatos machines can affect the energy generation of wind farms interconnected to the power system. In this paper, simulations were made to understand the operation of such machines. These simulations are based on the resolution of the power flow to obtain the initial point of operation and, through the use of differential equations that describe the DFIG–Double Fed Induction Generator, its controls acting on the electrical network. Six DFIG machines were simulated, interconnected to an electric power substation. For this work, it performed the simulations using the MATLAB/Simulink software. Good results were obtained from the DFIG acting through the control of active and reactive power, until the machine stabilizes again, when a sudden voltage variation occurs in the substation. The results showed that the controllers acted to maintain the desired power levels after the voltage variation.
