Impact Analysis of Low-Voltage Ride-Through on the VSG-Based Power Flow Control Applied to Grid-forming DG Systems

This paper presents a case study to evaluate the impact of the low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) on the virtual synchronous generator (VSG) strategy performance applied to power flow control in grid-forming distributed generation (DG) systems. For this purpose, the DG system was subject to asymmetrical faults applied to the point of common coupling (PCC) to characterize the LVRT condition. The VSG strategy performance is evaluated through simulation results addressing the grid-connected DG system operation with different scenarios of asymmetrical voltage sags. The analysis presents the main impacts on the system control variables, which can guide the improvement of standard VSG strategies to minimize the impacts caused on the DG power flow control.
