Development of IoT Application for Online Monitoring of Elevator System

The offline monitoring of elevator systems during off the peak hours is tedious for large organizations with hundreds of elevators. The present work proposes a cost-effective cloud- based web application is developed for online monitoring of the position and fault information of elevator. The fault identification is a two-stage process. Firstly, the rotary encoder provides the information about the motion of the lift then the level sensor outputs indicate the floor number or the fault condition. An Arduino controller with Wi-Fi module is used for sensing, processing the information then sending to things-speak channel. A prototype will be developed and tested to validate the proposed online monitoring mechanism.
