The refractive index measurement of seawater based on a photo array sensor

In this study, an improved sensor for measuring the refractive index of seawater is proposed, and the refractive index of seawater is defined by the displacement of the laser spot in the photo array sensor. In the small variations of seawater refractive index, the proposed refractive index sensor is simple and low-cost. The measurement of salinity in seawater has always been an important issue in marine science, especially in aquaculture and acoustic applications. In aquaculture, salinity will directly affect the living conditions of aquatic products. In acoustic applications, salinity affects the speed at which sound travels in the sea. Therefore, accurate measurement of seawater salinity is an important topic in marine science.
