Low-Voltage Ride Through Capability Test by IEC 61400-27-1 Wind Turbine Model

With the increasing installations of wind power generations, issues associate with the operation of power system integrates with wind turbines cannot be underestimated. Currently, to maintain high efficient operation of power system, the functionality of low-voltage ride through (LVRT) are expected to be included in wind turbine (WT) by utility grid so as to support grid recovery when meet fault events. In this paper, the generic phasor modeling of Type-3 double-fed wind turbine based on IEC 61400-27-1:2020 is first investigated; then the LVRT control is designed in WT model for voltage compensation. MATLAB/Simulink is employed in this paper for modeling, simulation analysis, and the performance validation of the studied WT model and control.
