Energy optimal control of powertrain and air conditioning systems for connected EVs

The energy optimization with V2X technology can further improve the energy economy of electric vehicles (EVs). A benchmark challenging problem is proposed in CVCI 2022 to show the energy-saving potantail of intelligent connected and automated EVs. Targeting the benchmark problem, the paper proposes an optimization method to jointly control the power-train system and the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system. The optimization for powertrain system uses hierarchical scheme in the framework of model predictive control. Simulation are carried out to evaluate the proposed control scheme, and simulation results are reported and discussed.
