An Adaptive Driving Beam System with Camera Information Correcting Technique

As an intelligent driving assistance technique, the Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) system has been developed to prevent dazzling when driving at night. The ADB system modify the shape of high beam according to the traffic information extracted from the intelligence camera. The data quality from the camera can be easily affected by the complex surrounding environment at night, which will lead to flickering of the high beam. To enhance the performance of the ADB system, a median filtering method is proposed to correct the data from the intelligence camera. Based on the corrected object boundary angle, the flickering of the LED matrix in high beam can be eliminated effectively. The filtering method is analyzed and simulated by MATLAB, and is implemented on a S32K14x series MCU platform. CAN bus is used to communicate between the MCU and the high beam system. The ADB system proposed in this paper can effectively reduce the accident risk when driving at night, and has a broad prospect in the future automotive applications.
