Finite control set model predictive current control for reluctance synchronous motor

The paper presents a finite control set model predictive current control FCS-MPC for reluctance synchronous motor (RSM). Non-linear characteristics of d-q inductances have been applied to obtain an accurate model of the machine. These were used to calculate the maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) strategy, and to predict the current space vector components for the control algorithm. The proposed control scheme has been implemented in Matlab/Simulink environment supported by the PLECS toolbox. An optimal prediction horizon was selected taking into account the minimization of the motor's torque ripples. Extensive simulation studies indicate high-performance operation of the RSM and torque ripple reduction. Experimental tests are also included.
