Experimental and Numerical Characterization of the PTFE Material in the X-Band Frequency

This work aims to validate a characterisation method using a Poly-Tetra-Fluore-Ethylen. The method has been verified by three models: analytical model, numerical simulation and an experimental measurement. The analytical model is based on Nicolson-Ross-Weir (NRW) method. The numerical simulation is performed using (Ansys HFSS) meaning a rectangular waveguide. The experimental measurement is done using a vector network analyzer (VNA) associated to a X-band waveguide system where the test samples were introduced by filling the cross-section of the waveguide. The result accuracy are enhanced by removing the phase ambiguity that introduced when using the measurement method, in both the experimental and the numerical methods. The results consist to obtain, respectively the complex permittivity and the complex permeability over the X-band frequency range considered [8 to 12 GHz].
