Robust Adaptive Control of an Automotive Active Air Suspension System with Input Delay

This paper investigates the problem of height tracking control of an automotive active air suspension system with uncertain sprung mass, external time-varying disturbance and input delay. The proposed control strategy guarantees i) the ride height converges towards, and stays within, an arbitrarily small neighborhood of the desired height, achieving uniform ultimate boundedness; ii) the closed-loop system is 1) robust to external time-varying disturbance and uncertain time-varying input delay; and 2) adaptive to uncertain sprung mass caused by the changed payload. Simulation results are presented and analyzed, demonstrating the performance and efficiency of the proposed control strategy.
