Economic Study of Robotic Ecosystem for the Coastal Zones of Omoa Honduras

Swimming at beaches where the water or sand is contaminated can cause illness. Children, the elderly and people with weak immune systems are the most likely to contract diseases or infections from coming in contact with contaminated water while swimming. Omoa's beaches are among the most polluted beaches in the country. This is mainly due to the high volumes of garbage coming from various rivers that flow into the surrounding area. Most of the garbage comes from the Motagua River. Many researchers are developing robotic solutions to mitigate this pollution. However, a complete robotic ecosystem for pollution abatement and the cost of its implementation has not yet been evaluated. For this reason, in the present research an economic study was developed on the implementation of a robotic ecosystem that allows the reduction of pollution on the coastal areas of Honduras. The robotic ecosystem to reduce pollution on the beaches of Omoa is composed of 4 different types of robots. The first one allows the cleaning of dry waste on the beach, 7 in total. The second one allows the collection of marine debris, 4 in total within the robotic ecosystem. The third is an oceanographic buoy for the monitoring of physical parameters, with 5 a complete monitoring is achieved. And the last one is a garbage shredder for recycling, 5 are required to recycle the high volume of garbage. The final cost of the robotic ecosystem that allows the reduction of pollution of the beaches of Omoa is more than ${\$}$21,000.
