Review of Software Reliability through Prediction Models

The purpose of this study is to define and calculate the software’s reliability early in the development process. This paper employed the shortcut survey model prediction approach based on input answers to key questions. For this, historical data that is more relevant to the software whose reliability is being predicted is used. It gives a generic approach that may be used for all software at the developing stages of different modules. To tune the model to fit the test data, parameters must be set. In this paper, those factors are discussed which are important but ignored. The shortcut survey model, a somewhat different prediction model, is being created to challenge the current models. Shortcut model is a questionnaire based model which determines the reliability of the current software by providing more precise predictions regarding shortcomings and risk of the software as well as performing tradeoffs and planning improvements. An experiment is set up to see if a shortcut model could be beneficial in predicting software reliability.
