Reduction of non-conforming products through a quality management model using Lean Manufacturing tools in the wood furniture industry

The Micro and Small Enterprises of the wood furniture industry in Peru have been facing deficiencies with respect to the quality of the product, since complaints were filed from customers due to non-compliant products. This problem generates a negative impact on furniture manufacturing companies, which represent 15.3% of the manufacturing sector. Therefore, in the present case study, a quality management model is proposed using Lean Manufacturing tools that reduce the problem and show a positive economic impact through the reduction of costs and improvement in productivity with the aim to reduce the quantity of defective products and improve the quality within the company. The implementation of a pilot plan of the proposal demonstrated a reduction of up to 20% of defective products allowing monetary savings to the company under study.
