Standards in a Multicloud World

As the cloud market matures, standards are becoming more important than ever. Very few companies are using a single cloud or computing platform to meet all their needs. A variety of standards are important for cloud computing. This chapter discusses the standards that are becoming imperative to the wide adoption of cloud computing. Standards developing organizations and standards setting organizations can be differentiated by how they create a standard. One of the most important aspects of interoperability is the ability to enable applications to exchange data in a multicloud or on‐premises data center. The distributed management task force has been around for nearly 30 years and may best be known for its common information model, which is a common view of IT equipment. National Institute of Standards and Technology formed its cloud computing group to help federal agencies understand cloud computing. The storage networking industry association is responsible for the cloud data management interface.
