A 5G Beamforming Antenna With IoT Sensors

In this paper, we propose a method to put 5G mobile communication beam-steering antennas together with wireless body-area network multi-input multi-output(WBAN sensor) UHF-band antennas in one platform. To maximize isolation between the two aforementioned blocks of the antennas, the 28 GHz beam-steering antenna is realized as an substrate integrated waveguide(SIW) for good shielding, and a three-turn and shorted loop is used as a small-sized antenna for 433 MHz WBAN MIMO. By reducing the room for electromagnetic coupling, the total structure is built on the real-estate of a smart-phone with no change in performance from separate design steps.
