JAYA Algorithm and its Performance on Energy Efficiency for Wireless Sensor Networks

JAYA algorithm (JA) is the enormously growing population-based algorithm, combining the Survival of the Fittest (SOF) principle and the global optimum solution from evolutionary algorithms and swarm intelligence. The proposed JAYA algorithm has to be studied thoroughly to understand its working nature to find optimal solutions, various recent enhancements, and applicability to enhance or improve the life of network, parameters related to Quality of Service (QoS) of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN). The WSN have various constraints, out of which energy supplied by the battery of the sensor node is the most crucial factor. To accomplish an improved life of the network, the residual energy of the network has to be utilized optimally. Reading this article, the reader community will have good knowledge of various enhancements of the JAYA algorithm applied to find the solution to various metaheuristic problems. Primarily this work discusses how the JAYA algorithm can be applied efficiently in WSN to optimize the Cluster Head (CH) selection, localization and duty cycle of the radio transceiver to achieve energy conservation and extended network lifetime.
