Simulated Annealing based Controller Design for Synchronous Motor

Synchronous motors are widely used in areas where there is a need of constant speed. Besides this, these motors are also largely used in power houses for correcting the power factor. Its speed remains synchronized with the frequency of 3 phase ac applied to it. So it is named as the synchronous motor. This paper deals with the control system development for speed control of synchronous motor. The classical PI controller and a Simulated Annealing (SA) based optimized PI controller have been developed in MATLAB. Finally a comparative study of the two designed control systems is presented.
