Improving Axial Spatial Resolution of OCT Using MUSIC Algorithm

Optical coherence tomography is one of the most efficient and widespread imaging technique, widely used in biomedical applications, material inspection and other cases. It offers a micron-scale spatial resolution, which is sufficient for many applications, but still some improvement is highly anticipated. However, when traditional signal processing methods are used, axial spatial resolution is inversely proportional to the spectral width, in which the measurement is performed. We propose to apply MUSIC algorithm for processing OCT interference signals and demonstrate that several-fold improvement of axial spatial resolution can be achieved under certain conditions.
