Twelve-Step Inverter

This paper presents a new three-phase twelve-step six-level inverter topology. This inverter will be called as TSI inverter. The TSI presents some advantages over the traditional PWM inverters, such as: 1) the six-level voltages are obtained without any extra dc sources or capacitors; and 2) no PWM gating signals, rather the TSI is operating at the fundamental frequency with 50% duty-cycle. The complete analysis presented in this paper includes the inverter module and its operation. Simulated and experimental results are also presented to validate the theoretical analysis.
