Sharing Women's History in Communications

As the IEEE ComSoc History Committee celebrates the 70th Anniversary of the Communications Society, we reflect on the significant contributions of members to the technology of our world today, and look to the vision of a transformative, resilient, and sustainable future. With the new diversity and inclusion (D&I) initiatives, the History Committee, along with Women in Communications Engineering (WICE), will bring focus to women who, despite various efforts, remain underrepresented in the field of communications engineering, and among the entire IEEE membership. Even among science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) topics, communications engineering is behind in the representation of women. The new initiative will promote understanding of D&I and recognition of women through a variety of activities that will be covered in upcoming articles.
