Hexaferrite Permanent Magnets and Applications

This chapter present an overview of the magnetic properties of the different families of permanent magnets and compare their magnetic properties. It focuses on the characteristics of ferrite permanent magnets, in relation to the magnet processing. The main applications of ferrite permanent magnets are presented. A recent analysis of the key trends in the global ferrite magnet market, along with forecasts at the global level up to 2027 points out the following applications for ferrite magnets: electro‐acoustic products, power play tools, electronics industry, calculating machines and car line industry. New potential end applications for ferrite magnets could be considered providing the magnetic properties of hexaferrite materials are improved. To do so, different strategies were considered, such as controlling the nanoscale size and shape of the constituent particles or fabricating hard‐soft magnetic composites using ferrites as the hard phase.
