A Novel Approach for Customary Route Centerlines Extraction and Edge Determination

The extraction of centerline and the determination of edge of a customary route are of great significance for improving maritime traffic environment and standardizing site selection of wading project. In order to extract the centerline and determine the edge of a customary route, this paper firstly discretized the ship trajectory data and determined the centerline of the customary route using gaussian fitting method. Secondly, the 100% track edge and route edge of customary route are determined through classification of ship scale, route density and route guarantee rate. Finally, the proposed method is used to delimit the customary route boundary in typical areas, so as to verily the scientificity and rationality of the method. The edge determination of customary route is beneficial to standardize the safe distance between the wading project and the customary route, which provides reference for the site selection of the wading project.
