Multi-objective Scheduling of an Energy Hub in a Multi-energy System Using Genetic Algorithm

An Energy Hub is a unit in which several energy vectors including electricity, heat, and natural gas cooperate. Several studies have been proposed for optimizing its design and operation from different points of view (economic, environmental, or reliability) with single-or multi-objective approaches. However, further research is still needed in the planning and scheduling parts. This paper develops a multi-objective scheduling model for an Energy Hub, based on a Genetic Algorithm, in which the operational cost and the equivalent CO
2
emission are minimized. The energy hub modeled in this paper considers electricity and natural gas as input energy vectors, electricity and heat demands, and three energy transformation devices (an electricity transformer, a gas furnace, and a combined heat and power unit).
