Design and Analysis of Line-Start Synchronous Reluctance Motor for Improving Efficiency and Power Factor Considering Operating Points According to the Design Parameters

In this paper, the analysis and design of 11kW 6-pole LS-SynRM is performed according to the operating points using an electromagnetic and mechanical transient analysis of finite element analysis (FEA). The operating points of LS-SynRM are determined by the dq-axis inductances and analyzed based on the voltage and torque equation under the condition of the rated load torque and voltage. Furthermore, design parameters of LS-SynRM are selected such as a turn per slot, a stack length, and a barrier design to analyze the operating points. Based on the analysis result, the basic design of LS-SynRM is performed considering the efficiency and power factor. Finally, the optimal design is performed for improving the efficiency and power factor. To verify FEA result, the optimal model is manufactured, and the experiment is performed.
