Cost Effective High Torque Density Multi-Layer Motors Utilzing both Rare-Earth and Ferrite Permanenet Magnets

This paper, we propose a design method for a multilayer internal permanent magnet synchronous motor using two types of permanent magnet materials. Since it is a model that uses two types of permanent magnet materials, the characteristics and output of the motor are affected by the positioning of the permanent magnets. Therefore, in this paper, by selecting the proper location of the rare-earth permanent magnet and the non-rare earth permanent magnet, the design was designed to maintain the performance similar to that of the existing rare-earth permanent magnet machine at a lower cost. The final designed model was verified through finite element analysis and experiments.
