Satellite-based 6S Payload for Internet of Things

This paper presents the satellite-based 6S payload design and its in-orbit demonstration for the Internet of Things (IoT). The 6S payload includes the following functions: (1) Automatic Identification System (AIS); (2) VHF Data Exchange System (VDES); (3) Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B); (4) Data Collection System (DCS); (5) Wideband Electromagnetic Spectrum Sensing (BES); (6) Emergency Search and Rescue (ESR). The 6S payload adopts the software defined radio (SDR) platform, and a broadband antenna covering 200MHz to 6000MHz are designed to receive signal.The feasibility of 6S payload has been demonstrated in orbit on Tiantuo 5 micro-nano satellite.
