Research on crashworthiness of a civil transport aircraft

With the rapid development of the aviation technology, the requirements for the safety of air transport are becoming more and more strict. It is of great significance to carry out research on the crashworthiness of civil transport aircraft. In this paper, the finite element simulation of the process of a straight fuselage section of a civil transport aircraft hitting the rigid ground at the speed of 5m/s was carried out. It is found that the trend of the internal energy curve of each component shows a consistent correlation during the crash, which is closely related to the failure mode of the fuselage frame. The main failure form of the fuselage frame is fracture and plastic hinges. By changing the position where the plastic hinge formed, the energy absorption capacity of the fuselage frame could be improved. In this paper, three ways to deal with shear clips near the plastic hinge formation location were carried out, which could change the plastic hinge formation location.
