Extensive Evaluation and Uncertainty Estimation of Albedo Data Sources

Surface albedo has been constantly used in solar energy modeling. In recent times, the growing development of bifacial PV modules has ignited a surge of interest for this variable. However, there is a lack of knowledge in the energy industry about several key aspects concerning albedo. In this work, we present an evaluation of 8 different sources of gridded global albedo data against 5 years of data at 29 ground observing stations in North America. Based on that, we discuss and estimate the uncertainty associated with each source.
