Resilient Operation of BESS in a Cooperative DC Microgrid under Data Manipulation Attacks

This article investigates the resilient operation of en-ergy consensus based control problem for a single cyber physical (CPS) microgrid (MG) with multiple data transmission chan-nels under data manipulation attacks. Observers with dynamic averaging voltage consensus and finite time energy consensus are designed in the secondary layer of control for attaining an optimum balance of modified state-of-charge and voltage regulation in battery interfaced converters in an autonomous and cooperative DC MG. Confidence Factors (CF) are therefore designed for identification of attack and consequently corrective actions are proposed for mitigation. In addition, communication fault ride through operation of the compromised converter has also been contemplated in the work. This aids in retention of en-ergy supply to critical loads. Extensive simulations are performed in MATLAB/Simulink and RTDS under various scenarios of data manipulation for validation of the proposed technique.
