Wireless and Mobile Security

Significant portions of the networks in most organizations are now wireless, and wireless networks have a number of security challenges that wired networks don't. This chapter discusses common wireless connectivity options—ranging from Bluetooth and cellular to Wi‐Fi—and the network models they most often use. It focuses on wireless attacks and examines wireless authentication, the many forms of Extensible Authentication Protocol, and how wireless controllers and access points are kept secure. The chapter focuses on mobile device management. The Security+ exam outline lists a range of wireless connection types, the chapter covers these wireless connection, such as, cellular networks, Wi‐Fi, Bluetooth, near‐field communication, radio frequency identification, infrared, Global Positioning System, and USB. Enterprise networks rely on wireless local area network controllers to help managed access points and the organization's wireless network.
