The Design and Implementation of Upgraded ESCAPE Light ATC Simulator Platform at the CTU in Prague

The aim of this technical paper is to describe newly upgraded platform of Air Traffic Control simulator called ESCAPE Light. ESCAPE is a simulation platform designed and developed by EUROCONTROL and its Light version is distributed to universities and research organisations across the world. This paper goes over the chosen hardware and software used during the upgrade, and it highlights the advantages of the new complete platform over the obsolete one and depicts all the compromises the authors had to make during the upgrade. The work is deemed beneficial to provide this description for future use of the simulator in various projects of the Department of Air Transport.
