Microservices Security

This chapter focuses on the significant aspects of plugging the security layer into microservices applications. It discusses the various security challenges of microservices applications and how they can be surmounted through a host of security solutions and practices. Microservices are being seen as the highly optimized software building block in producing business applications across industry verticals. An microservices architecture (MSA) typically represents distributed architecture of microservices encompassing the back‐end services that provide data, the middleware code that talks to the data stores, and the User Interface that serves up the data in a user‐friendly way. Authentication in microservices is a mechanism wherein the desired user with correct credentials is validated against the database to get access to the service. Implementing an API gateway enhances the performance and scalability of the entire MSA. This chapter explores ways to install APISIX gateway using the Docker environment.
