Interruption-driven resource competition defect model and testing methodology

Interrupt-driven embedded systems are widely used in various safety-critical fields such as military equipment and aerospace, and the resource competition problem brought by interrupts is one of the most prominent problems. The current research on various resource competition problems is rather fragmented and one-sided, and varies widely from field to field. In this paper, based on the accumulation of many years of testing experience in the laboratory, we statistically cover and analyze the resource competition problems found in hundreds of testing projects, identify and classify them, analyze the sources of defects, summarize the characteristics of defects, and defect patterns, and construct an interruption-driven resource competition defect model. Finally, combined with the analysis of typical examples, we provide a comprehensive summary of interruption conflict scenarios and test analysis methods, and can design precise and efficient concurrency analysis methods according to the characteristics of interruption-driven resource competition and domain context in a targeted manner. We have combined the existing method system and tool system, applied and analyzed in several software evaluation work, and the results show that the model system can effectively improve the detection effect of interruption-driven resource competition defects and increase the confidence of the evaluation results.
