Influence of Na+ and Cl− Ions on the Properties of Hydroxypropylcellulose Solutions

The results of the study of the Na
⁺
and Cl
^-
ions effect on the properties of hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) water solution are presented. The influence of these ions on the density, viscosity, HPC nanoparticles sizes and temperature of the structural transitions in these smart systems is revealed. It is shown that the luminescence characteristics are sensitive to changes in the HPC solution structure allowing determination of the temperature and intensity of the structural transition.
