Plastic recycling with supercritical fluids

Recently many kinds of recycling techniques of waste plastics have been developed. Among their techniques, much attention has been given to supercritical fluids such as water and methanol as the benign solvents in recycling processes. We show some typical recyclings for waste plastics using supercritical fluids as follows: (1) the recovery of constituent monomers from PET using supercritical methanol, (2) the recovery of each constituent monomer and polymer in laminate film using subcritical water, and (3) the recovery of the carbon fiber from CFRP using supercritical water.
