An Efficient Two-Step Leapfrog HIE- FDTD Method With More Relaxed Stability Condition

This paper presents an efficient two-step leapfrog hybrid implicit-explicit finite-difference time domain (HIE-FDTD) method with more relaxed stability condition. A two-step leapfrog HIE-FDTD method has been derived from the four-step HIE-FDTD method. The proposed method is more efficient than the existing four-step HIE-FDTD method while keeping the same stability condition and numerical dispersion error. In addition, the proposed method shown lees numerical dispersion error than that of the alternating-direction implicit method (ADI-FDTD). Numerical simulations are used to validate the analytical results. The two-step leapfrog HIE-FDTD method has second-order temporal and spatial accuracy.
