On the Availability of Physical Protection of Remotely Located Objects with their Centralized Protection

This article presents the results of research on the possibility of successfully preventing unauthorized access (UA) of an intruder to a protected object in the implementation of centralized protection. In case of centralized protection, the objects are equipped with technical means of security alarm (MSA) and notification transmission system (NTS). When attempting unauthorized entry, the intruder exerts a physical impact (hacking) on the elements of building structures that are protected by MSA security detectors. From the actions of the intruder, security detectors generate alarm notifications that are transmitted using NTS to the centralized protection point (CPP) of the security organization. The security organization at the CPP continuously monitors the status of the MSA of protected objects. Upon receipt of alarm notifications from protected objects, mobile physical security teams go there to suppress UA and detain the offender. Thus, a fairly large number of geographically distributed objects can be protected at the CPP. The CPP coverage area is the territory where centralized security activities and the response of mobile teams to alarm notifications from protected objects are carried out. The success of the response of physical security teams to suppress UA primarily depends on the ratio of the time the intruder penetrates the protected object and the time of arrival of the physical security team upon an alarm signal. Based on the results of evaluating these time intervals, it can be concluded about the expected probability of successful suppression of UA and the possibility of receiving remotely located objects under centralized protection at the CPP. Thus, this paper proposes a methodology for assessing the availability of physical protection using the CPP of remotely located objects.
