Stable wave segments in a discrete-continuous medium

Nervous tissue simultaneously has the properties of both a discrete set of individual neurons that transmit an electrical signal to each other, and diffusion-binding intercellular space connecting it. We have found stable wave segments that occur naturally in such a discrete-continuous medium and are resilient to scaling. Unlike the previously described wave segments, they do not require constant noise exposure or feedback to maintain. The discovered SWS are stable to small perturbations expressed in spatial inhomogeneities and scaling. We have described possible scenarios for their emergence and evolution and analyzed the main properties of the observed structures.
