Subgroup Division and Group-Based Control Strategy for Mixed Traffic on Two-Lane Highway

To alleviate the traffic congestion, a group-based control strategy for mixed traffic on two-lane highway is presented. First, vehicles in the same lane are divided into subgroups, then the group-based control strategies for group split and group formation are given, the detailed operating rules for CAVs under different conditions is developed. In addition, the method proposed in this paper is verified by VISSIM. Results show that our method has obvious advantages in reducing travel time and the total times of stops.
