AI-Based Classification to Facilitate Preservation of British Columbia Endangered Birds Species

This study used artificial intelligence to identify endangered birds in British Columbia, Canada, to help preserve their habitats. Over many years of industrialization by humankind, it has become significantly more challenging for animals to live in a shrinking natural habitat. We used AI to assist in protecting these animals by quickly recognizing whether or not they are contained within an image of a forest. In doing so, users can take many photographs of the interior of a forest and attempt to see if an endangered species lives in the area.
