Copy-Move Forgery Detection-A Study and the Survey

The issues caused due to image manipulations are common these days. Furthermore, it causes severe troubles in news broadcasting, social media, and even in digital media forensics. Mainly, the types of image manipulations can be divided into four; they are splice forgery, copy-move, morphing, and retouching. Among these 4 types, copy move forgery is challenging to detect since the image characteristics is not changing even after the forgery. Also, the manipulated images can undergo attacks including rotation, scaling and distortion making it even hard to detect the forgery. In this survey paper, we have reviewed the types of image manipulations and elaborated on copy-move forgery detection and the challenges faced in copy-move forgery detection. The paper has reviewed seminal copy-move forgery-related research articles published between the year 2011-2022.
