Three-dimensionally shaped silicon nanostructures for ultraviolet plasmonics

Silicon, often known as a dielectric material, possesses metallic characteristics in the ultraviolet (UV) range and leads to intriguing novel optical interaction known as plasmonic resonance. We here theoretically and experimentally demonstrate UV plasmonic behaviors of various silicon nanostructures from simple spheres to complex helices.
