Methods for Transferring Data from a Compute to a Storage Cloud

This research, done in collaboration with our industrial partner TELUS, concerns systems that use different platforms for the compute and storage infrastructures thus requiring data transfers between the two platforms. This paper focuses on four different data transfer techniques and analyzes their performance. An architectural framework and a proof-of-concept prototype are described and the analysis of the performance of the data transfer techniques are presented. The performance results described in this paper provide insights into system behavior and the performance of the different data transfer techniques.
